Edith Hope Fine is word crazy. Her fourteen wide-ranging children's books, including Under the Lemon Moon, the Nitty-Gritty Grammar guides (with Judith Josephson), and Cryptomania! (a zany adventure with Greek and Latin roots), reflect this love of language. Water, Weed, and Wait, a school garden picture book, will be out from Tricycle Press in Fall 2010. Armando and the Blue Tarp School (also with Judith Josephson) is a nominee for the 2009–2010 California Young Reader Medal and a children’s musical based on the book premieres in March 2010. Through the Greater San Diego Reading Association, Edith has received the International Reading Association's Celebrate Literacy Award for contributions to literacy through her writing, teaching, and visits with students in schools throughout San Diego.
