Lucy Eskeland earned her doctoral degree in biomedical sciences from the City University of New York / Mount Sinai Medical Center and went on to do her post-graduate work at the University of California in San Diego. She and her twin sister, Celeste Bailey, wrote and published several middle grade and high school science books, and have given workshops/presentations for science teachers and their students.  Even though Lucy was trained as a scientist, she always loved writing fictional stories for children.
